Relief Induction - Step 2
Back in the workshop and ready to carve. It's my first time woodblock carving. The wood cuts smoothly and the process is relaxing.
I now understand working with the grain as well as against it.

Removing the area designated for the background colour. This means I have to carve around the stones and into the seaweed. But what about the colour… How will I choose the palette? I’ve never been particularly confident with colour, so I usually select a palette based on the original photograph.
Using Canva and its palette creator, I was able to analyse and build a colour scale. This will be matched by eye.
