Glen Lonan and Clach na Carraig.

It feels like a very long time since I was working on my body of work, the Shaman. The original photo shoot from early summer remains largely undeveloped.

There are a couple of factors at play: the need to focus on the MA Summer Show and then the critical reflection on the actual images. Sometimes, you can’t rush the process. I had an intuitive sense that something was disingenuous and out of kilter with the composite images.

However, having now returned to Iona, it’s time to see if the images will work. Having ‘true’ background material, I believe, will help bring the images into the space I want them to be in.

The reshoot after the show provided better lighting and a more relaxed attitude towards the photos, so the next step is to composite the foreground and background. Today will reveal whether it works and whether I end up with an image that remains true to my story.
