Photo Shoot of movement

Still image from the shoot.

Original notes from a test shoot that I had done with photographer Andrew Waller. As a semi-professional, it was so helpful to discuss how I was going to capture my blurred imagery. However, he had some difficulties understanding that I didn’t want the background to be blurred.

This is all about trying to pull the movement off a background successfully. I achieved this when producing the Sisters in Unit 2. But that was under very different circumstances. Given that I was trying to achieve a similar feel, but with Glen on a bike, I knew it would be a challenge.

However, simply having these notes was helpful.

Charlie’s advice…. (Charlie had helped me shoot the Sisters. I relied on his technical knowledge to get me up to speed on shutter speed and focus.

“Set the program to S speed priority and let the camera do the F-stop. (Little stopper on) Set the speed to 1” and alter ISO to add light…. “

Or should I set the ISO to 160 and then alter the speed?… This is a bit mind-bending.

“DON’T FORGET TO SET THE FOCUS AND LOCK OFF”
