Day 1: Walking and drawing

  • Very interested in the skyline and distant views.

    • I realise I always start my drawing or walking from the same point on the journey. No wonder it feels exhausted and uninspiring.

    • Why do I dissect the page with a horizontal line? What would happen if I started my drawing from the centre of the page and worked outwards?

    • What joy to simply feel the apples hanging from the trees rather than trying to catch them.

    • I was aware of all the softness and lightness of the thistle down. How does my mark show that? Light, spirally flowing lines, almost a trace of the thistle's fairy seeds as they float through the meadow.

    • My concentration began to drift after half an hour. Stop. Build up, don’t force it!
