Haunting 2 - Progression

The addition of type to the plate?

At first I thought this ludicrous as a suggestion and it didn’t sit well. So having removed myself from the plate for over a week and having revisited the work of Marcus Rees Roberts(b.1951), I can see this may actually work.

I have the sentence, but how will I incorporate it into the image? Taking photocopies facilitates rapid testing of letterforms and the incorporation of line work. This is akin to the Amsterdam artist Aat Veldhoen (1934 - 2018)

The next step is to speak with Brian and get his thoughts on altering the plate with a hard ground or preparing a third plate to add the text as a layer.

This is a work in progress and the last state for Haunting 1 - Etching. The addition of a block of colour with the lettering is promising.

The foul bite in the lettering plate was a mistake. I had inadvertently used soft ground instead of hard ground. However, I believe I can salvage this plate with some burnishing and sanding.
