Four essays had been selected for the group reading. The common theme through the essays asked ‘What is Print’

My choice;

Ruth Weisberg's 1989 essay :

“The Syntax of the Print: In Search of an Aesthetic Context." Pelzer-Montada, R. (2018)

The passage that caught my attention dealt with Collaboration and the role of the Artist, Printmaker and Printer. I asked the question;

When we leave this course/college, how will we ‘define’ ourselves and what role do we perceive we will play?

The word ‘Role’ was key to my answer. Within a collaboration the fluidity of this position is important in the creation of an image. It also places the art, the print, as the important element and not necessarily the progress off the individual artist.
